Fresh concerns surrounding Real Madrid and the relationship between Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe have emerged following another difficult week for the Spanish giants.

According to a recent report from Carrusel Deportivo, there are growing doubts internally over how well both forwards function together on the pitch.

The report goes as far as suggesting that the partnership between the two stars simply is not working at the moment.

“They don’t get on, and the team plays worse with the Frenchman in the line-up,” says Anton Meana.

The comments have only intensified discussions surrounding Mbappe’s second season at Real Madrid, especially after the club’s painful El Clasico defeat to Barcelona.

Journalist questions Mbappe’s adaptation

Meana also delivered a strong assessment of the French forward’s current situation at the club.

According to him, there is frustration over the lack of adaptation shown by Mbappe since his arrival.

The forward is further accused of not contributing enough to the overall structure of the team, and it is suggested that even players inside the dressing room are aware of the issue.

“He’s doing nothing to adapt, and he’s not making an impact. His teammates know it. There’s no solution,” says Meana.

Real Madrid statistics without Mbappe

The debate surrounding Mbappe’s impact has also been fuelled by recent statistics.

Before the defeat against Barcelona in El Clasico, Real Madrid had won eight of the 10 matches played without Mbappe available, producing an impressive 80% win rate.

During those games, Madrid averaged 2.50 goals scored per match while conceding just 0.90 goals on average, numbers that have naturally increased scrutiny over how the team functions with the French star in the lineup.
