Report – Roma Set Sights on Another Bologna Forward | OneFootball

Roma and Bologna could soon meet at the negotiating table again to discuss the future of Jonathan Rowe. According to Calciomercato, the Giallorossi have identified the 23-year-old as the ideal candidate to bolster their attacking ranks amid Matias Soule’s uncertain future at the Stadio Olimpico.

Santiago Castro’s arrival from Bologna earlier this summer set Roma back around €35 million. Furthermore, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have signed Donyell Malen on a permanent deal from Aston Villa following the Dutch forward’s remarkable short-term loan in the second half of last season.

On the other hand, Roma have tied Paulo Dybala down to a new contract. However, they could sever ties with Soule. The Argentine’s potential exit would make room for another attacking addition, with Rowe emerging as an exciting option for the capital-based outfit.

It’s worth noting that Roma may have to beat Premier League giants Chelsea to the Englishman.

Rowe won’t come cheap. Bologna signed him from Marseille only last summer, but they have now slapped a substantial €40m price tag on their in-demand star. Moreover, they’re in a strong bargaining position, considering Rowe’s contract at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara runs until 2029.

Whether the player would be worth such a hefty investment remains questionable. Indeed, Rowe tallied an unenviable three goals and three assists across 28 Serie A appearances last term. Yet, he’s still a much more affordable option than RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, who has also caught Gasperini’s eye.

With Bologna missing out on European qualification, Rowe would probably be open to joining Roma, who will compete in the Champions League next season.
