Report Roma turn to Elmas amid Sancho frustration, as Napoli on hold | OneFootball

Just as Napoli put Eljif Elmas on the back burner, Roma reportedly turn to the RB Leipzig player, because their frustration with Jadon Sancho is growing.

Elmas spent the last six months of the season on loan at Torino and this reminded him how much he missed Serie A, so was pushing for a more permanent return.

After weeks of talks with Toro, Napoli suddenly stepped in and were prepared to swoop for a sensational comeback, seeing as he already wore their jersey from 2019 to January 2024.

However, Romelu Lukaku’s serious injury forced Napoli to focus on other priorities for the transfer market and save money for this role.

According to Sky Sport Italia, this allowed Roma to intervene and prepare their own offer for the North Macedonia international.

They need a wide forward who can play on the left flank and Elmas does fit the bill, albeit in a less attacking approach than Sancho.

Roma have been waiting patiently for Sancho to make a decision on leaving Manchester United, but his refusal to give a response one way or another is starting to irritate them.

As Football Italia reported many times, Manchester United and Roma are in full agreement, they are only waiting for Sancho to give the all clear.
