Report shares how high Liverpool are prepared to go for Barcola – compromise could yet be found | OneFootball

A fresh report has claimed that Liverpool would be prepared to go well above the £100m mark to sign Bradley Barcola, but their ceiling would still be short of Paris Saint-Germain’s latest valuation of the winger.

The 23-year-old has reportedly reached an agreement on a five-year contract with the Reds, but so far there’s been no sign of the two clubs even coming close to agreeing a price for him so that the proposed transfer could go through.

A report by Graeme Bailey for TEAMtalk last Saturday claimed that PSG believe €150m (£128m) is ‘a fair price’ for the France international, although the same journalist (writing for the same outlet) has now quoted a higher valuation.

According to TEAMtalk on Wednesday, Liverpool believe that a deal of up to £120m ‘represents the level at which they would be prepared to do business’, although the asking price from the European champions has now been cited at £145m.

PSG are ‘showing no inclination’ to compromise on their demands, and no progress has been made in talks between the two clubs, although Bailey stressed that the move isn’t off as of now.

It’s added that ‘until PSG’s valuation changes or the Reds decide to move closer to the £145m asking price, there remains a significant gap to bridge’.

Work to do, but Barcola compromise could yet be reached

For now, there’s still a disparity between the French club’s valuation of Barcola and how high Liverpool are prepared to go for him, but the gap mightn’t be as unbridgeable as this latest report would imply.

If the Reds would be open to putting £120m on the table and PSG would accept a fee in the region of the previously quoted £128m, it isn’t unthinkable that the two clubs could eventually compromise on that £8m difference.

For example, if LFC match the club-record £125m that they paid for Alexander Isak last year, the Parisians may ultimately view that as an acceptable price for their winger, especially given his willingness to move on from the Parc des Princes.

That fee would still be well above the £100m cap to which Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle wishes the Reds will adhere, but any prospect of getting him for that amount would be meagre.

We suspect there’ll be a bit more back-and-forth between the two clubs throughout the remainder of August and that, towards the end of the month, a compromise will be struck to pave the way for Barcola to finally get his move to Anfield.
