According to a report from SPORT, it has come to light that AS Monaco hold an €11 million purchase option for on-loan Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, a figure that now looks like a potential bargain considering the forward’s resurgence in form.

Notably, the agreement between the two clubs also includes a sell-on clause for Barcelona, ensuring the Catalans retain a percentage of any future transfer.

However, if Monaco activate the clause at the right time, they could make a significant profit.

After years of injury struggles and inconsistency, Ansu Fati seems to have finally rediscovered his best version in Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old has made a blistering start to life at Monaco, scoring six goals in just five matches.

Interest growing in Ansu

Before joining Monaco on loan, Ansu extended his Barcelona contract until 2028, a move that gave the Blaugrana some leverage in case of a future sale.

Yet, with the purchase clause set at only €11 million, there is growing concern within the club that they may have undervalued one of La Masia’s brightest talents.

As reported before, his performances have already caught the attention of Premier League clubs, with Everton among those monitoring his situation closely.

If his form continues, the €11 million fee could look increasingly modest compared to his potential market value by the end of the season.

Barcelona’s Position and Monaco’s Plan

Within Barcelona, there is an acceptance that Ansu’s return is unlikely and the club believes a permanent move to Monaco is the most probable outcome.

The French club, meanwhile, plan to take their time before making a final decision, focusing instead on helping the winger maintain his physical fitness and consistency throughout the campaign.

If things continue as they are, Monaco are expected to activate the clause towards the end of the season.

For Barcelona, it would mark the end of a bittersweet chapter, losing a homegrown star who has finally found his rhythm, albeit away from Catalonia.
