Coach Stefano Vecchi is set to leave Vicenza and become the coach of the new Inter Milan Under-23 team next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Next season, Inter Milan will set up a new Under-23 team.
Similar to the Juventus Next Gen and AC Milan Futuro sides, it will be an intermediary step between the Nerazzurri’s youth teams and senior teams.
The Bianconeri in particularly have enjoyed success with this approach. They have used their Next Gen team to bed in players who have played a big role in the senior team, or else been sold for a profit.
The shining example of this pathway would be Kenan Yildiz.
This approach would therefore be an alternative to having young players go out on loan for senior playing time.
Among the players who will be a part of the project will be Thomas Berenbruch and Alessandro Calligaris.

For the coach of the new Under-23 team, Inter will turn to a familiar face in the form of Stefano Vecchi.
Vecchi spent four years in charge of Inter’s Primavera team between 2014 and 2018. Meanwhile, he had two brief caretaker spells in charge of the Nerazzurri first team.
Vecchi has had spells as coach of the likes of Feralpisalo, and this season, Vicenza.
Had the 53-year-old guided Vicenza to Serie B, he would have likely stayed at the club. However, they lost their Serie C playoff final against Ternana.
Therefore, reports Tuttosport, Vecchi is ready to step down from his role at Vicenza. He will join the Inter Under-23 team.
