With the international break coming to an end, Real Madrid are set to resume their campaign this weekend as they take on Getafe.
Amid mounting injuries and a congested fixture list, coach Xabi Alonso might want to reshuffle his pack a bit, as he keeps one eye on games against Barcelona and Juventus next week.
Alonso has already called up a few youth players ahead of the Getafe clash, including midfielder Jorge Cestero.
But another player who could potentially feature against Getafe this weekend is Gonzalo Garcia, who is coming on the back of a stellar performances for Spain’s U21 squad.
Garcia scored and assisted in Spain U21’s Euro qualification game against Finland, which prompted Xabi Alonso to send him a congratulatory message.
In the message, the Real Madrid coach backed Garcia to play for the national team.

“You’re going to play for the national team and show what you’re all about, a killer in the box. You deserve it for your work, effort, and dedication,” he told Garcia, as relayed by Defensa Central.
Gonzalo Garcia was notably one of Real Madrid’s standout players during the FIFA Club World Cup. His stellar performances even convinced Los Blancos to make him a part of the first-team this season.
However, the young forward has endured a muted season so far and has been feeding off scraps due to Kylian Mbappe’s majestic performances.
A few months into the new season Garcia has featured in just over 100 minutes of action across the Champions League and La Liga, failing to score a single goal.
Xabi Alonso’s message to Garcia, therefore, could serve as a real confidence booster for the young attacker as he looks to break into the Real Madrid setup in the near future.
