According to La Repubblica, there is growing tension between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Milan owners RedBird also due to a homophobic gag with YouTube star IShowSpeed.
La Repubblica newspaper reports that Milan and Ibrahimovic are ‘in crisis’ as the club owners grow unhappy with the former striker’s attitude.
According to the report, it all started a few weeks ago, when Ibra joined YouTube star IShowSpeed in a childish and homophobic gag called ‘First one to move is gay.’
Repubblica reports that the video irritated RedBird and Elliott directors, but it’s not the only reason Milan owners have raised eyebrows.
It is reported that Ibra has taken revenge on his former teammate Ignazio Abate, who didn’t give his son Maximilian his Primavera debut last season.
Abate has now become the Ternana coach in Serie C, and once he left the club last summer, Ibrahimovic downgraded his father, Beniamino, a goalkeeper coach, from the Primavera to the Women’s team before sacking him without notice.
Maximilian Ibrahimovic still signed a contract extension before Milan talent Francesco Camarda in March, and the Italian striker recently liked an Instagram post blaming Ibrahimovic for his lack of experience in his role.
According to Repubblica, two more reasons leading to tension between Ibra and RedBird are that the former striker spends more time at the Vismara training centre watching his younger son Vincent than at Milanello with Milan’s first team.
Last but not least, fans criticised Ibra before the break as he was on holiday when Milan managed a 2-2 draw against Lazio. Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao caused outrage in that match by snubbing a cooling break in the second half.
Ibrahimovic is formally not part of Milan as a club; he was hired as a RedBird Advisor in December 2023.
