According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 33-year-old will be in the starting line-up in Rotterdam.

Simone Inzaghi benched De Vrij against Napoli last weekend.

However, Inter lost star wingback Federico Dimarco to injury in that fixture.

Therefore, the 48-year-old will likely make several defensive changes on Wednesday.

And they will affect De Vrij.

With Dimarco injured and Nicola Zalewski already on the sidelines, Alessandro Bastoni will be a makeshift wingback.

Bastoni’s positional tweak will weaken Inzaghi’s back three.

It will be up to De Vrij to shore up the gaps.

Indeed, the Dutch veteran will join forces with Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi.

That’s if Inzaghi decides to stick with his hallmark 3-5-2 formation.

Otherwise, he’ll only have one center-back partner as the long-serving Inter boss contemplates switching to a 4-4-2.

Nevertheless, De Vrij will start against his former club, with Inter bidding to extend an 11-game unbeaten run against Dutch clubs.
