Return to England? Here’s how Kane is planning his athletic future

Time and again, Harry Kane has been linked with a return to the Premier League. However, the prospect of breaking Alan Shearer’s record apparently doesn’t matter to the Bayern striker. Instead, the Englishman has other priorities.

Harry Kane’s future appears to remain closely tied to FC Bayern. According to Sport BILD, the striker wants to extend his contract, which runs through 2027, and has already signaled his intentions to the record-holding champions’ management. Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen also recently stated that the club plans to begin the next round of talks with Kane and his representatives after his vacation.

Nevertheless, speculation about a return to England continues unabated. After all, Kane is only 47 goals away from tying—or even surpassing—Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals as the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer. Consequently, there is repeated speculation that the 33-year-old could one day return to England.

Titles Over Goal Records

According to information from Sport BILD, however, this milestone does not play a decisive role in Kane’s considerations. The Premier League scoring record is not important to the England captain. Rather, his focus is on winning more titles with FC Bayern and finally celebrating a major triumph with the English national team.

This is also why talks with FC Barcelona and the top Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal are reportedly not even being considered at this time. Even a return to his former club, Tottenham Hotspur—which has also been the subject of recent speculation—is currently off the table.

Instead, Kane is looking ahead to his long-term future in Munich. Bayern Munich wants to bring the striker to the negotiating table as soon as possible after he returns from vacation. According to information from Sport BILD, a contract extension through at least 2029 is considered a realistic scenario. Even a contract with an even longer term is reportedly not out of the question, as Kane already has his sights set on the 2030 World Cup.

From the striker’s perspective, FC Bayern would be the ideal club for this. Kane not only wants to win more titles at the highest level but also to continue his career there. His dream of winning the World Cup with England and his success with the record champions apparently mean much more to him than a personal goal-scoring record in the Premier League.
