It’s been a slow start to life at Inter Milan for French midfielder Andy Diouf, who has yet to find his footing under Cristian Chivu.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old coach plans to gradually integrate the 22-year-old into his starting XI.

Inter Milan forked out €20 million to sign Andy Diouf from Lens toward the end of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, after failing to land Manu Kone, they turned to the French starlet to bolster their midfield options.

However, the youngster only made 11 minutes of Serie A action in the opening four rounds.

Since making a late cameo appearance against Torino on matchday one, Diouf has spent every minute on the bench.

On the other hand, Chivu has shown plenty of faith in other newcomers, such as Petar Sucic and Manuel Akanji.

Yet, he views Diouf as a potential starter moving forward.

Indeed, the Frenchman is the only left-footed midfielder in the squad. Furthermore, his ball-carrying ability sets him apart from the others.

Additionally, Diouf can play in various set-ups.

He thrived in a two-man midfield at Lens last season, averaging 3.3 ‘progressive carries’ per game.
