Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has asked for a new option in midfield to give his side greater balance and intensity heading into the second half of the season, one such target is Genoa man Morten Frendrup.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club is open to satisfying that request during the January transfer window, with Morten Frendrup of Genoa emerging as the leading candidate.
Chivu’s high defensive line and aggressive approach have exposed the need for a player capable of covering ground, breaking up play, and supporting transitions.
Inter came close to signing Manu Koné from Roma last summer before opting for Andy Diouf, who remains a long-term project still adapting to Serie A.

Now, with around €20 million available for winter investment, Frendrup has reappeared on Inter’s shortlist.
The Dane combines energy, tactical awareness, and pressing ability, having made 91 Serie A appearances since joining Genoa.
Though his current team are struggling near the bottom of the table, his performances continue to draw admiration from Inter.
Furthermore, even Roma, who have also inquired about his price tag.
Frendrup’s willingness to move is clear, and Inter are monitoring conditions closely.
If the financial details align, the midfielder could become the next key piece in Chivu’s evolving tactical system.
