Roma’s transfer window concluded with the loan transfers of Buba Sangaré to Elche and Devis Vasquez to Besiktas.
Before swooping in for the Giallorossi’s third goalkeeper, the Turkish club had made an attempt to sign Pierluigi Gollini.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, it was Gian Piero Gasperini himself who put a spoke in the wheel and blocked the deal.
The 1995-born goalkeeper is considered a reliable one by the Piedmontese coach, and the chance he was given in Athens against Panathinaikos is proof of that.
The friction between coach and goalkeeper from a few years ago has thus been definitively overcome.
During his time at Atalanta, in fact, the relationship seemed to have deteriorated completely, with Gasp later revealing: “I had problems with him and didn’t want to see him anymore; in fact, he had problems with me. I found him here, having matured and grown. He’s worked very well in all these months.”
