Revealed: The source that helped Dani Alves to pay €1m bail amount

Earlier this week, Dani Alves was released from prison for the first time in over 14 months. The former Barcelona and Sevilla defender had been behind bars since he was charged with sexual assault – which he was later convicted of, but has since appealed – in January 2023, but after his bail was paid, he has now been freed temporarily.

Alves’ bail request was granted last week, but it went unpaid for a few days. The player himself couldn’t offer to pay as he was denied access to his fortune, but nevertheless, €1m was sent to the Court of Barcelona, which facilitated his release.

As per Fiesta (via MD), the source of that payment has now been revealed. They say that a renowned Brazilian magazine were the ones to pay, and they did so in exchange for an exclusive interview.

“The magazine, known in Brazil, makes great reports of important people in Brazil, but also at an international level, and it would have done so in exchange for a report that would already be done.”

As per the conditions of his bail, Alves – who could remain out of prison until next year – cannot attempt to flee Spain, and he has had his Spanish and Brazilian passports taken away anyway. For now, he lives at his home in Barcelona.
