Phil Foden’s upcoming Manchester City contract renewal was reportedly engineered by super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, who also represents Erling Haaland.

The 25-year-old has agreed a fresh four year contract at the Etihad Stadium that will keep him at his boyhood club till the summer of 2030, ending uncertainty over his club future.

Foden is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal at Manchester City and having lost his place in the starting XI since the New Year, there were doubts creeping in over the Stockport-born attacker’s long-term prospects in sky blue.

However, it has been reported this week that the England international has agreed a long-term contract renewal in principle with the eight-time Premier League champions, who are pursuing a domestic treble in the final weeks of the season.

Report: Rafaela Pimenta brokered new Foden contract

In a detailed article, Mail Sport’s Jack Gaughan has revealed that super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, who also represents Erling Haaland, negotiated Foden’s renewal at the Etihad Stadium.

It has been noted that Foden parted ways with a previous agent in November 2025 and met Pimenta to analye what the Brazilian, who is widely renowned as the most powerful woman in football, and her agency could offer him as he enters the prime of his career.

Foden is also understood to have been keen on surrounding himself with a leaner, tight-knit support group off the back of a difficult few seasons on and off the pitch, having also recenly moved housing in pursuit of a quieter, more private life away from football.

The forward is believed to have told Pimenta that his heart was set on staying at Manchester City amid the ups and downs of the recent past, having won his place back in Guardiola’s starting XI in the fall of 2025 only to lose it from January.

Moreover, as reported by The Athletic’s Sam Lee, there is a belief among those close to Foden that the Englishman has lacked elite representation over the years amid an expectation that he will continue to work with Pimenta in the years that follow.

Analysing Foden’s struggles at Man City

The England international endured a turbulent 2024-25 campaign whose inconsistencies he credited to mental and physical struggles in a range of interviews – in his own words, that “some things are bigger than football”.

Foden spearheaded Manchester City to a record fourth successive Premier League title in the 2023-24 season and was rewarded for his most influential personal campaign under Guardiola by being voted as the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.

The following season was topsy-turvy, to say the least, for Foden and Manchester City, who qualified for the UEFA Champions League but were far from their best as they endured a rare trophyless season, prompting a staff and management reset behind the scenes.

City lost ground in the title race after a second-half collapse against Everton on Monday night and despite late strikes from Haaland and Jeremy Doku salvaging a point, Arsenal are in pole position to win a first Premier League title in 22 years.
