Benjamin Pavard is planning to be back for Inter Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana, while Francesco Acerbi is aiming for the Serie A clash with Cagliari.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter are currently without a couple of big names in defense. In both cases, this is due to thigh injuries.
29-year-old former Bayern Munich defender Pavard picked up his injury in a Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
And it always looked clear that Pavard would need a few weeks to recover.
Meanwhile, Acerbi suffered a thigh strain during Inter’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona last month.
Initial projections for the veteran Italian international’s recovery had been optimistic.
But Acerbi has been on the sidelines for more than a month now. And he will miss at least one more match, Monday’s Serie A outing against Como.
Returns are in sight for both Pavard and Acerbi, however.
In the former case, the Frenchman will not be back before the end of 2024.
However, Pavard is aiming to be available for the Supercoppa Italiana at the start of January.
Inter face Atalanta in the semifinal of that competition. Then they could face either Juventus or AC Milan in the final.
Meanwhile, Acerbi is likely to be available before then.
The Corriere report that the 36-year-old is aiming to be available for Inter’s last match of December, away to Cagliari.
