Inter Milan veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out of contention for Sunday’s clash against Fiorentina.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 37-year-old is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Despite starting Inter’s 1-1 home draw against Atalanta on the bench, Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined the fray in the second half.
Unfortunately, he picked up an injury toward the end of the game.
Furthermore, detailed medical checks at the Istituto Humanitas in Rozzano revealed a strain in the hamstring of his left thigh.
Therefore, Cristian Chivu won’t have the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Roma star his disposal this weekend.
Though Inter had initially hoped to have Mkhitaryan fit for a mouth-watering clash against Roma, that may not be the case.
Indeed, the experienced midfielder could be out for at least three weeks.
With the international break just around the corner, he will have more time to recover.
However, it’s now a near-certainty that he won’t be available for the Easter clash against his former club.
Instead, it’s more likely that he’ll return for Inter’s trip to Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia to face Como on April 12.
