Cristian Chivu is looking to put his own stamp on Inter Milan tactics after taking over from Simone Inzaghi at the end of last season.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Romanian coach has decided to change Inter’s formation for one crucial reason.
Last season’s Serie A runners-up had become synonymous with a 3-5-2 set-up during Inzaghi’s four-year reign.
Indeed, the Italian manager was often reluctant to stray away from his trusted system.
Though Inzaghi’s stubbornness yielded standout results, it made the Nerazzurri predictable.

Chivu’s changes are anything but profound.
Indeed, Inter will still line up with three players at the back under Cristian Chivu.
However, instead of Inzaghi’s 3-5-2, they will adopt a 3-4-2-1 formation.
The sole purpose of this minor tweak is to enhance attacking fluidity and midfield creativity.
Eventually, it should make Inter ‘less predictable’ and more adaptable to different opponents and in-game situations.
