The future of Joaquin Correa has become a major dilemma for Inter Milan who are uncertain about what to do with their wantaway striker.

The 29-year-old followed Simone Inzaghi to San Siro in the summer of 2021 following their prosperous collaboration at Lazio.

However, the Argentine failed to deliver the goods for the Nerazzurri. After two underwhelming campaigns, the management sent him to Olympique Marseille on loan, but his displays took a turn for the worse.

Correa failed to produce a single goal contribution during his time in France, so he has returned to Appiano Gentile this summer.

Nevertheless, Inter are adamant about selling the disappointing striker before the summer ends.

Calcio e Finanza explains why the Argentina international constitutes a financial headache for the club.

Inter purchased Correa for 32.6 million euros, signing him on a four-year contract, valid until 2025.

So as the source explains, the player’s value on the balance sheet is 8.5 million euros. That is the player’s yearly amortization cost.

How Rescinding The Contract Of Joaquin Correa Would Impact Inter Milan

Hence, if Inter manage to sell Correa for a figure higher than 8.5, they would then register a capital gain. On the contrary, a lower figure will constitute a capital loss.

But in any case, selling the player remains the club’s best option. In addition to earning a transfer fee, they wouldn’t have to pay the yearly amortization cost.

However, if the management can’t find the player a buyer, then rescinding his contract could be an option to consider.

As the report explains, this would be a double-edged sword.

On one hand, Inter will register a capital loss worth 8.5 million euro which is the remaining value of the player on the balance sheet. This could raise the negative gap on the club’s books to more than 50 million.

But on the other hand, the Nerazzurri would save a similar figure on his amortization cost, reveals the source.
