Serie A champions Inter Milan have rejected the idea of letting Tomas Palacios leave Giuseppe Meazza on loan this winter.
According to Sportitalia via FCInterNews, Simone Inzaghi doesn’t want to allow the Argentine’s exit despite his relatively sparse playing time.
Palacios joined Inter from Independiente Rivadavia last summer for a reported fee of €6.5 million plus €4.5m in add-ons.
However, he has found first-team opportunities at a premium.
Stiff competition for places at Inter has seen the young gun make only two cameo appearances in Serie A.
Indeed, he has collected a mere ten minutes of top-flight action this term.
Palacios’ bit-part role led to speculation about his potential winter exit.
But Inzaghi has other plans.
He did a similar thing with Yann Bisseck last season, keeping him at Appiano Gentile despite rarely giving him a chance.
It has proved a wise decision, considering the German is climbing up the hierarchy.
Therefore, Inzaghi expects Palacios to follow the same path by learning from his senior clubmates.
Now that Francesco Acerbi is on the sidelines, the 21-year-old can realistically hope to get more minutes.
Perhaps the upcoming clash against Lecce could be an opportunity for Inzaghi to test Palacios on the grand stage.
