New Year’s Eve in London (Sean MacEntee)

We asked some of our friends in women’s football all over the world if they’re making New Year’s Resolutions…and here’s what they said!

OneFootball Videos

Amber Hughes, Wolverhampton Wanderers: I’m not a big one on New Year’s resolutions, but I think it will just be around being more present in the moment, my life’s so busy with work and football but I need to make sure I’m enjoying the other special times!

Amy Jenkins, Aberystwyth Town captain: Score more goals.

Amy Rodgers, Nottingham Forest and Scotland: Spend less time on social media and more time with family and friends.

Bow Jackson, Exeter City captain: Make time to switch off from the world and just enjoy the moments.

Ellen Maggs, formerly of Arsenal and England: To not get too excited about Arsenal (men and women) winning trophies.

Emma Thomson, North Carolina Courage assistant coach: Well, it’s not to give up coffee! To be more present in whatever it is I’m doing at that time, whether it’s at that home with the family or at work, or with friends – give it my whole attention and focus.

Gemma Fraser, Leafield Athletic: Double my goal tally by the end of the season!

Helen Ward, former Wales international and current Watford general manager: Not a big one for New Year’s Resolutions, but I think a big thing for me to focus on is controlling the controllables whether that’s in work or in general life – control what I can control and try and let the other stuff just be.

Hana Lowry, Australia international: To get back fit and healthy and playing football after rehabbing my ACL injury and enjoying my football again.

Lee Burch, Rugby Borough head coach: Personally to continue to push my own health and develop myself to help others.

Lucie Gwilt, Llanfair United player-manager: I’ve never been much of a runner, but I’ve recently started forcing myself out to set a good example to my teammates and I’ve found myself (kind of) enjoying it; or at least the satisfaction afterwards. It’s also helping to keep up my fitness, which at my age now, helps on the pitch! So, my new year’s resolution is to keep up with the running and to enjoy it.

Natasha Dowie, former England international and now broadcaster and Liverpool ambassador: Got loads! Play more padel. Run more half marathons. Do more art work. More time with family and friends. First female to score in Legends game.

Renee Hector, Watford head coach: To take better care of myself and my knee. I want to be able to run again without limping.

Shauna Chambers, Aberystwyth Town: No phone at least 30 minutes after waking up – I’ve actually already started this and it’s making a difference!

Shelly Provan, Oxford United: To be a better cook. I’m terrible in the kitchen and want to add more variety for the sake of my poor children!
