According to ExpressAndStar.com, new club accounts show former chairman Jeff Shi received a £124,000 pay rise in 2024/25, when Wolves recorded a £15.3 million loss. The disclosure prompted anger among supporters.
The accounts also state the highest-paid director received £688,000, up from £564,000 the previous year. The director is not named, but is understood to be Shi, who was chairman at the time.
It was the club’s fourth successive year of losses. Revenue slipped from £177.7 million to £172 million as Wolves fell two places to 16th in the Premier League.
On X, one supporter questioned how Fosun had allowed what they viewed as mismanagement for so long and criticised extra reward for the person they blamed for chaos. Others called the increase outrageous and asked what it was for.
Another said price rises during a cost of living crisis jarred with the pay boost, claiming it dwarfed what many fans earn in years and bidding Shi good riddance. On Facebook, fans accused him of rewarding himself for the summer transfer window he orchestrated and lamented the loss of long-standing season ticket holders. One described it as rewarding failure and said the club were back where they started with Fosun.
