Reyna fired up to secure United States World Cup spot after Gladbach move | OneFootball

Giovanni Reyna has revealed that one of his main reasons for joining Borussia Mönchengladbach was to secure a spot in the United States’ 2026 World Cup squad.

The 22-year-old made the switch from Borussia Dortmund over the summer and is eager to return to the national team setup, having last represented his country in March.

“I believe I will be there (at the World Cup, editor's note). That was also one of the reasons for my move,” Reyna told Bild.

“I’m in open contact with the coach [Mauricio Pochettino]. If I play well for Borussia, then I will definitely find my way back into the national team,” added the attacking midfielder, who has struggled with injuries in recent years.

“My body feels better every day. I’m at a point where I want to take the next step and elevate my career to a higher level. I feel ready for that – and that’s why I came to Gladbach,” he said.
