In a major blow for Arsenal ahead of their Champions League clash against Inter on Wednesday evening, England international Declan Rice has not travelled with the team for the heavyweight European bout in San Siro.
According to several reporters in the UK, Rice has not travelled with the Arsenal squad for the Champions League match away against Inter, although captain Martin Odegaard, who has missed the last 12 matches through injury, is among the travelling party as he returned to full training on Tuesday morning.
Rice has played every minute of Arsenal’s 2024-25 Champions League campaign, and has done the same for every game he has been eligible for in the Premier League, minus a game and a half after his sending off against Brighton earlier in the season.
According to The Mirror, Rice did not train with the rest of the Arsenal squad on Tuesday morning, despite playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle United over the weekend.
Arsenal could replace him with a double pivot featuring Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino, or there could even be a rare opportunity for Italy international Jorginho at the base of midfield.
