Richard Hughes and Liverpool's €150m dream agreement

Richard Hughes and Liverpool are planning great things. They've got a €150m dream agreement pencilled in.

Liverpool spent an awful lot of money in 2025, twice breaking their transfer record in a pair of nine-figure deals. But they're not done there, it seems.

They're weighing up more enormous deals, say various reports. Two positions appear to be at the top of their shortlist.

Goalkeeper, somewhat surprisingly, is one of them. Liverpool are heavily linked with a sale for Alisson Becker as Juventus try to pry him away.

But it seems Giorgi Mamardashvili isn't pencilled in as his first-choice replacement. Instead, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Diogo Costa of FC Porto, with Apito Final reporting he's their top target.

That's a deal that would cost them his €52m release clause - a major signing, then. And they won't stop there.

Reports continue to grow that Liverpool want Yan Diomande and the €100m man has been the subject of talks between the Reds and his representatives. Claims that he's their no.1 priority this summer won't go away - at this point, it just seems like a fact.

Two top players, then, and the bulk of Liverpool's major summer plans. Ibrahima Konate's contract should be sorted soon, sorting centre-back and allowing Richard Hughes and company to target other areas.

Winger and goalkeeper seem like the top two. And they're willing to spend big to get them.

Yan Diomande: Situation Summary

Bundesliga Performance and Stats

As of 29 April 2026, Yan Diomandé has solidified his status as one of Europe’s most exciting prospects at RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old winger has recorded 12 goals and seven assists in 2,216 minutes of Bundesliga action this season, maintaining an impressive average FotMob rating of 7.67. His recent form is exceptional, with a goal involvement in three straight matches, including an assist in the 3–1 win over Union Berlin on 24 April and a goal in the 3–1 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt. Currently leading the 2026 Golden Boy race, he ranks in the 95th percentile for goals and 81% for touches compared to other top-flight wingers.

Transfer Saga and Liverpool Pursuit

Diomandé’s future is the subject of intense speculation as Liverpool seek a successor for Mohamed Salah. Reports from 28 April indicate the Reds have already made contact with his agency, Roc Nation, regarding a summer move. While Leipzig are holding out for a €100 million (£87m) fee and hope to tie him to a new contract with a 2027 release clause, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirms that Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and PSG are all "calling" for the teenager. Diomandé is expected to make a final decision based on the formal proposals arriving this summer.

International Standing

A vital component of the Ivory Coast national team, Diomandé is a "guaranteed" selection for the 2026 World Cup this June. The Elephants have been drawn into Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador, and Curaçao, where the 19-year-old is tipped to be one of the tournament's breakout stars.
