Last week it emerged that Liverpool were frontrunners to sign Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old - who has been at the Bernabeu since 2021 - is now seen as surplus to requirements. Owing to the emergence of Thiago Pitarch the France international looks set to move in summer 2026 - despite boasting a contract until 2029.
Madrid are seeking a deal starting at €50m (£43m) according to reports - an unbelievable deal for one of Europe’s top midfielders on his day.
The attraction for Liverpool to sign Camavinga is obvious. He is a world-class No6, can play No8 and even fills in at left-back in a bind. Renowned as one of the best progressive passers in Europe’s top-five leagues.
Camavinga would help free up Ryan Gravenberch and even provide an upgrade on Alexis Mac Allister.
The Reds were thought to be in pole position for the former Rennes star but that deal looks like it is under threat. Because el Chiringuito in Spain is claiming that Camavinga’s representatives are now in talks with Manchester United over a summer arrival.
“Camavinga’s agent is negotiating with Manchester United for him to leave Real Madrid,” journalist Pipi Estrada claimed per Defensa Central.
"It looks very much like they're going to reach an agreement for the player to leave the club in June.”
