Richard Hughes may regret Luis Diaz sale after Mohamed Salah bombshell

One of the main talking points from Liverpool's 3-3 draw against Leeds United on Saturday was that Mohamed Salah shared that he felt like the Reds had thrown him under the bus.

Last term Salah was undoubtedly Liverpool's best player but this season, something just hasn't clicked which has meant that the Egyptian has started on the bench for their last three games.

This resulted in Salah coming out and saying that he and Slot had no relationship whatsoever and that next Saturday's game against Brighton could end up being his last at Anfield.

Clearly, this has meant that rumours about his future have started to circulate with Hughes now likely gutted that he chose to move Luis Diaz on during the summer transfer window.

Diaz and Nunez were the two attackers that Liverpool chose to move on in the summer.

It was clear that change was needed and was one of the main reasons why Isak and Hugo Ekitike were brought in.

And, while many fans thought that this would've been a positive thing, it feels like Slot's men have actually got worse.

Before Diaz was moved on, it was unclear how key he was to Liverpool's system and now that he's thriving with Bayern Munich, there's likely to be plenty of regret circling around the mind of Hughes.

Luis Diaz is the exact sort of player that Liverpool need at the moment

Diaz's inconsistency at Liverpool often drove fans up the wall.

However, after he put in his best-ever performance for the Anfield outfit last season, it was a surprise to see him get moved on.

Indeed, there wouldn't have been much room for him in the Reds' current set up but since Cody Gakpo has performed rather poorly this term, there's no doubt that fans would love to have the option of bringing Diaz in.

In fact, Hughes himself will likely be disappointed with the Colombian's sale as, at the moment, it doesn't feel like the Reds' attack is anywhere near as good as it was last term.

And, when Salah's bombshell interview is taken into account, it's clear that if the former Porto star stayed with the club for just one more season, he'd have been able to become the main man and perhaps play out his prime years at Anfield.

Unfortunately that isn't the case and if Salah does end up exiting in January, some serious questions will need to be asked.
