Richard Hughes is reportedly going to leave Liverpool after the 2026-27 summer transfer window slams shut.

The Englishman is entering the final year of his contract with the Anfield outfit and, at the moment, it doesn't seem like he's going to stay at the club.

Last summer, he spent over £450 million on new players just for Liverpool to actually end up worse off than they started.

However, in order to try and correct these mistakes, Fenway Sports Group are handing him yet another decently-sized war chest to try and improve Liverpool's ranks and to boost their chances of bringing some silverware home.

Of course, Victor Munoz has already been brought in but, with how poor Liverpool have been this term, at least three or four more players need to be signed.

And now, the Reds have been told what it will take for one of their long-term targets to secure a move to L4.

Liverpool will have to beat Arsenal's $25 million offer to sign Gilberto Mora

The 17-year-old is the second youngest player ever to feature in a World Cup which proves how special of a talent he actually is.

His solid form in the Liga MX also managed to carry on into the tournament as he featured in four of his countries matches.

These performances have piqued the interest of many clubs from around the world and now, Arsenal and Liverpool are about to go toe-to-toe for his transfer.

"Although Liverpool is interested, they will first have to overcome the stratospheric figure of $25 million that Arsenal is offering for Gilberto Mora," Azteca Puebla wrote.

"There are still a few weeks to go before we know the fate of the young Mexican player. Will he manage to take her to the Premier League?"

Gilberto Mora would certainly be a signing for Liverpool's future

As good as Mora looked during the 2026 World Cup, the fact that he's only 17 years old and is also only 5 foot 5 inches means that he'd probably get bullied in the Premier League next season.

The attacking-midfielder may have a low centre of gravity which could help him hop and skip past his opponents but, if he comes against someone such as Dan Burn, he's going to get flattened.

The $20 million that Arsenal are offering Club Tijuana at the moment is worth around £14.9 million.

Reports have suggested that the Mexico international has a £20 million release clause in his new contract so, if Liverpool want to sign the 17-year-old, it feels like they'll have to meet the clause.

The fact that he's already played 12 times for Mexico and 53 times across all competitions for Tijuana proves why Mexican legend Javier Hernandez dubbed him a "spectacular" player after their 2-0 win against Ecuador.

However, despite all this, it still feels like it would be worthwhile to send him out on loan for a season before allowing him to compete for a starting place, even if the Reds are desperate for some new faces to be added to their ranks.
