Liverpool will get one more opportunity to complete an incredible bargain £22m deal this summer.

The Reds made £450m worth of signings last summer but they are still searching for consistency in the squad. At right-back there have been difficulties all season long.

Conor Bradley has been out since January with a serious injury to his knee and isn’t expected back until next season. Jeremie

Frimpong meanwhile is being regarded more as a forward than a defender. Joe Gomez has been deputising but is out of contract in 2027 while Arne Slot has even had to draft in midfielders at right-back such as Dominik Szoboszlai.

Although not a priority area - given that Bradley has to come back into the team - Liverpool have a chance to do a deal for a highly-accomplished right back / wing back this summer.

Liverpool looking at £22m deal for Dumfries

Inter Milan are desperate to tie down Denzel Dumfries to a new contract. The Dutchman is under contract at San Siro until 2028 - but the Nerazzurri are worried about the €25m (£22m) release clause in his current deal.

A renewal would mean removing that clause - and close the door on Premier League suitors. But Liverpool - along with Manchester City and Manchester United - should get a chance to compete for the 29-year-old this summer.

“While Inter are making a renewal offer, worth around €5 million a year until 2029, with the release clause removed, several Premier League clubs are eyeing the player,” a report in L’Interista reads.

“Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all looking for a player with his characteristics, and given the €25 million cap, they wouldn't have any problem acquiring him, especially considering it would be easy to convince him given the contracts they're signing across the Channel.”

Dumfries can play together with Frimpong

Dumfries and Frimpong have been used in tandem for the Netherlands by head coach Ronald Koeman. In that set-up Dumfries plays right back or wing back with Frimpong playing further forward.

Although his age profile might not fit the current FSG model this deal may well be too good to refuse. Just short of 200 games for Inter Dumfries has got 25 goals and 26 assists to his name in all competitions.

Right now he is on the comeback trail following ankle surgery but is showing no signs of wear and tear as yet.
