The city marks its 400th anniversary this year, and its roll call runs from pop superstars to the world's richest artist, from Mel B to Damien Hirst.

James Frain, estimated at £1.48m, is known for playing Thomas Cromwell in The Tudors and Franklin Mott in True Blood. Corrine Bailey Rae, put at £2.96m, broke through in 2006 with Put Your Records On and has released albums and toured worldwide. Charlie Heaton, valued at £2.96m, plays Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things and was born in Leeds in 1994 before moving to Bridlington.

Matthew Lewis, at £3.69m, is best known as Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films. Aged 33, he was raised in Horsforth and has acted since the age of five.

Vic Reeves, £5.91m, was born in Leeds in 1959. His real name is James Roderick Moir, he moved to Darlington at five and is best known for his double act with Bob Mortimer as Vic and Bob.

James Milner, £6.65m, was born in Wortley and played most of his childhood football for Westbrook Lane Primary School in Horsforth. He went on to a senior career with Leeds United and other clubs, and was appointed MBE in the 2022 Birthday Honours.
