Anfernee Dijksteel will continue his career in Turkey. Provided he passes his medical, the 28-year-old Amsterdam native will play for Kocaelispor.

After six years at Middlesbrough, Dijksteel saw his most recent contract allowed to expire from the beginning of July. In his search for a new club, the Dutch-born defender found newly-promoted Süper Lig club Kocaelispor.

At Turkish second-tier championship winners, Kocaelispor, Dijksteel will play alongside Cihat Çelik, who was born in Oss. Bruno Petkovic, a 42-cap Croatian international, is another semi-familiar name, who will take his place up front.

Dijksteel played in the youth teams of Excelsior Rotterdam, Argon, SV Diemen, and AFC before moving to England in 2015. Via the Nike Academy and Charlton Athletic, he ended up at Middlesbrough in 2019. The right-back has thirteen caps for Suriname.
