Liverpool have announced that Rio Ngumoha has signed his first professional contract.
The Reds have not revealed the length of the deal, but The Athletic claims the 17-year-old has penned a three-year contract.
Ngumoha started his career at Chelsea, joining the club at the age of eight. He left the club to join Liverpool in 2024.
The teenager initially played for the Reds’ under-18s before quickly progressing into the under-21s.
Ngumoha became the youngest player in the club’s history to start a first-team match when he featured against Accrington Stanley in January.
Liverpool were so impressed with his pre-season performances that they didn’t sign a replacement for Luis Diaz, who joined Bayern Munich.
Ngumoha has made four appearances across all competitions this season and scored a late winner against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
The winger has made significant progress since joining Liverpool in 2024, but he is expected to further develop his game under the guidance of manager Arne Slot.
The Merseyside giants have been impeccable this season, winning all five top-flight matches to open up a five-point lead at the top of the table.
Slot made wholesale changes to the team for Wednesday’s League Cup fixture against Southampton, but they still emerged victorious.
Liverpool return to action on Saturday when they travel to face Crystal Palace.
