Rioja in frame as Valencia host Betis | OneFootball

Valencia host Betis at Mestalla tonight in the LaLiga opening day fixture that was postponed because of Lo Celso’s presence in the Betis squad. It comes three days after Corberán’s side drew with Celta de Vigo.

According to AS, Corberán can now call on Luis Rioja after he recovered from a right quadriceps muscle injury suffered in pre-season. Rioja could get his first minutes, although he will not start.

The meeting is special for Rioja, a declared Betis supporter despite never having played for the club. He scored at the Villamarín for Valencia last season and did not celebrate.

Justin De Haas is out after being injured last Saturday and will be sidelined for the coming weeks. Copete, Foulquier and Alberto Marí remain in recovery and have not been included in the squad.

Academy players Raúl Jiménez, Córdoba, Panach, Otorbi and Jaume Durà are also named in the squad.

Latest signing, goalkeeper Van Oevelen, did not report to the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna this morning, but could still be added later today. André Almeida and Arnaut Danjuma are involved, with their futures up in the air.
