Leeds United are saddened to learn about the passing of former player John Scott.
John represented the club between 1950 and 1954. The goalkeeper was signed by manager Major Frank Buckley and made 111 appearances for Leeds alongside legendary forward John Charles and iconic defender Jack Charlton.
As a club, we were honoured to welcome John back to Elland Road in January of this year to watch the side face Norwich City on our way to winning the Sky Bet Championship title. He then met the first team squad on the day of the match, spending time chatting with our goalkeepers throughout the day!
Aged 96-years-old at the time, John also visited the Leeds United Foundation’s LUDO Lounge in our Over-50s Social Club session. Whilst there, he recalled memories and stories from throughout his career. Everyone in attendance that day was privileged to be in the room to revel in hearing these tales from the past.
Everyone at Leeds United would like to send their deepest condolences to John’s friends and family.
Rest in peace, John.
Marching on Together, always.
