With the transfer window closed, River Plate are tracking Flamengo goalkeeper Rossi as a potential future addition, and there is no rush on their side.

ESPN reports that 21-year-old Santiago Beltrán has emerged as the starter, so the club are not pressing to recruit a new goalkeeper, although a formal bid for Rossi is not ruled out later on.

Rossi is one of Flamengo's leaders and the clear first choice for Leonardo Jardim, despite ups and downs in recent seasons, and he has won significant titles with the club.

He is well known in Argentina after serving as Boca Juniors' first-choice goalkeeper before joining Flamengo, so River already know his characteristics.

With Rossi available, Flamengo lead the Campeonato Brasileiro on 60 points, three ahead of Palmeiras.
