Rob Edwards has restated that he does not expect to be forced into January sales, a message that offers reassurance amid talk of Emmanuel Agbadou’s potential exit.
Wolves have endured a poor Premier League campaign, and Agbadou has been linked with a move, with suggestions he would be open to switching to Türkiye. The Ivorian struggled early in the season, lost his place, then rediscovered form that supporters have applauded.
“That’s not been communicated to me at all. I don’t want to say anything that will come back to bite me, but as I see it at the moment, I don’t think we’re in that kind of position where we would have to be selling any of the so-called ‘better ones’.”
The head coach was speaking to the Express and Star.
Edwards’ stance should calm fears over an exit for key players this winter, even as the Old Gold need to do some business to salvage pride. Selling now would only make his job harder with so much football still to play.
Attention may turn to summer, when a broader reset is viewed as likely. Joao Gomes and Andre have already had offers from top European clubs, while Jorgen Strand Larsen and Agbadou are also expected to draw admirers. If so, the squad could look very different next season.
