Rob Edwards says Wolves will prioritise character, experience and leadership in this window after it went unaddressed last summer. He wants to redress the balance rather than chase age profiles.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have agreed a two-year deal with 35-year-old Kieran Tripper, with an option of a third, subject to a medical and final paperwork. He is viewed as a vocal figure who will hold team-mates to account.
Edwards stressed that age is only a number. He believes younger players with strong knowledge of English football can be leaders too, and the focus is on signing the right person. He added they will try to address that gap.
Wolves have also tied Andre to a new contract, and talks have been held about bringing Raul Jimenez back to Molineux after his Fulham deal expired.
Those early steps have been welcomed by large sections of the fanbase following relegation. Despite criticism late in the campaign, Edwards is set to oversee the summer rebuild and says he is energised to drive the changes, with some players retained and new faces arriving.
