Rob Edwards says Wolves will prioritise leadership and the right characters as they embark on a major summer rebuild.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have agreed a two-year contract with 35-year-old Kieran Tripper, with an option of a third, subject to a medical and the contract being signed. He is seen as a figure who will hold team-mates to account.

Edwards said experience and leadership have been missing this season. He insisted age is not decisive, arguing younger players with English football know-how can lead, and named Mane as a different type.

Wolves have also extended Andre’s contract. Talks have taken place over bringing Raul Jimenez back to Molineux after his Fulham deal expired.

Early steps have drawn praise from large sections of the fanbase after a miserable campaign that ended in relegation. Despite criticism late in the season, Edwards is expected to oversee the rebuild and says he is energised to help drive change.

He added that some current players will remain part of his plans and that there will be new arrivals.
