Rob Mac and Kaitlin Olson receive support after Olson announces her father’s death | OneFootball

Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson have received widespread support after Olson said in an Instagram post that her father, Donald Lee Olson, had died.

She described sharing the news publicly as uncomfortable but felt it would be wrong to carry on as if nothing had happened, calling the loss the worst thing imaginable and saying her world had ended.

Olson reflected that her dad fought hard to stay, that no words could capture him, and that she felt lucky to have had him as her father. She said she was able to hold him as he passed and promised to keep her word to him.

Alongside family photographs, including images with McElhenney, the Wrexham co-owner posted his own tribute, calling Donald unique, praising the love he had for Olson and saying his own aim was to be even half the man Donald was. He added that he was grateful that Donald lived and proud to have been his son for 17 years.

Friends and colleagues sent condolences. Dax Shepard hailed Donald’s integrity and said he aspired to be the sort of man, father and husband he was. Mary Elizabeth Ellis praised him and said he had raised a loving, caring woman, while Jimmi Simpson, David Hornsby and Melanie Lynskey also sent messages of love.
