The league leaders made the trip to the Racecourse Ground on Friday night, and they took the lead thanks to a fine Ephron Mason-Clark finish after 22 minutes.

However, Wrexham were more than a match for the Sky Blues, and they turned things around thanks to a brilliant perfect hat-trick by Moore in the second half, with fellow attacker Josh Windass assisting all three goals.

It was a win that sees the Red Dragons edge closer to the play-off mix, whilst also granting them the honour of being the side to end Coventry's 12-game unbeaten run.

Whilst Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s excellent 88th-minute strike ensured a nervy ending at the Racecourse Ground, the Red Dragons held on for a deserved three points as they moved into the top-half ahead of Saturday’s fixtures.

Wrexham received plenty of praise for their performance, and co-owner McElhenney was among those to take to social media to reflect on the game.

With a nice reference to Moore after his hat-trick, the Hollywood star was delighted to see his side claim what was an impressive win.

Moore of that please. Wow,” being the five-word message he penned after the full-time whistle.

You can understand why McElhenney and all connected with Wrexham are pleased with how last night went, as it was a fantastic team performance.

There was a spotlight on Parkinson and the players after the way they lost to Cardiff in the League Cup earlier in the week, when the manager surprisingly decided to rotate the XI with this fixture in mind.

So, a big response was needed, and, to their credit, Wrexham were on it from the first minute, and they even had chances to take the lead before Mason-Clark’s opener.

Of course, Coventry also had their moments, as they are a quality side, but Wrexham continued to push and the combination of Windass and Moore was too much for the Sky Blues to deal with.

This wasn’t a smash-and-grab type win, which has to be the most pleasing aspect for Parkinson, and the reality is that they had too much energy and ability for the visitors on the night.

You can be sure that Parkinson is reinforcing to the players that these are the standards they must maintain moving forward, and it’s proof that Wrexham are capable of getting a result against any team in the division.
