Robbie Savage is currently in charge of non-league side Forest Green Rovers
Robbie Savage has responded to speculation linking him with the managerial vacancy at Blackburn Rovers.
It was reported by Football Insider that the 51-year-old has been named as a top candidate for the role following Valerien Ismael’s dismissal.
Savage is currently the head coach for National League side Forest Green Rovers, having taken charge of the team last summer.
He will be aiming to guide the club to promotion back to League Two after they lost in the play-offs last season.
But Blackburn have their sights set on surviving in the Championship, with the team sitting narrowly above the relegation zone.

Savage has posted on social media his response to speculation surrounding his potential move to Blackburn.
The former midfielder, who plied his trade at Ewood Park from 2005 to 2008, simply wrote, via his personal X account, the facepalm and the cry laughing emojis.
He wrote his response after being told that questions were going to be asked about the Rovers job when he speaks to the press on Thursday, where he will likely give a fresh answer to whether he has spoken to the Championship side.
Savage is in his second managerial role with Forest Green Rovers after previously working with Macclesfield.
The 51-year-old has impressed many with his work at a non-league level, but it remains to be seen whether he will ever make the step up to the second tier of English football.
Savage’s response certainly seems to suggest that a move to Blackburn is not currently on the cards, and he appears intent on helping Rovers gain promotion out of the National League.
Ismael was dismissed last weekend following a 1-0 loss that left the Lancashire outfit inside the relegation zone, but a 1-0 win on Tuesday night against Sheffield Wednesday lifted the team to 21st.
Next up for Blackburn is a trip to face 19th place Norwich City on 7 February in a 12.31pm kick-off.

Savage would certainly be a bold and very risky appointment by Blackburn, if it did come to fruition.
However, this response seems to suggest that it is not on the cards at the moment, to say the least.
The 51-year-old obviously has a connection to Rovers, so it’s not too surprising to see him linked with the vacancy after his foray into management.
But it would be a big leap to go from working in the fifth tier of English football to managing in the Championship, and Savage may just be quite happy where he is for the time being.
