Sky Germany reports that 31-year-old midfielder Robert Andrich is no longer Bayer Leverkusen captain. He is not in new head coach Carles Martínez’s plans after five years at the BayArena.

Edmond Tapsoba is set to take the armband, with striker Patrik Schick expected to become vice-captain.

Andrich had previously said he would not look to move while the club and coach wanted him to stay. That position appears to have shifted in recent weeks, and the former captain is exploring a transfer.

He remains under contract until 2028. Having brushed off interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, he will now weigh his options, with a move abroad possible.

Signed from Union Berlin in 2021 for €6.5m, Andrich has enjoyed a successful spell at Leverkusen. He helped win the Bundesliga in 2023/24, when the side went unbeaten, and the DFB Pokal in the same season.
