Robert Lewandowski is edging towards a sensational Barcelona exit, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal pushing to sign him this summer. WP Sportowe Fakty reports the Riyadh club have made a formal contract offer and that the 37-year-old is close to accepting.

Juventus, AC Milan and MLS outfit Chicago Fire have been linked, but Al-Hilal are viewed as frontrunners. AS previously suggested geopolitical factors might deter a move to the Middle East, yet the scale of the proposal is said to be shifting the picture.

The package is reported to be a staggering €90 million per season, unprecedented in scale and well beyond his current Barcelona terms. Such a deal would be the most lucrative of his career and could ease pressure on the Catalan club’s wage bill.

Should he sign, Lewandowski would join an ambitious squad led by former Inter manager Simone Inzaghi. The group includes Karim Benzema, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly, with Theo Hernandez, Darwin Nunez and Malcom also part of the recruitment drive.

A switch to Saudi Arabia would likely end his pursuit of Champions League records, taking him away from Europe’s top tier. It would, however, position him as the face of Al-Hilal’s domestic and continental ambitions.
