Robert Lewandowski has joined Chicago Fire on a two-season deal in MLS after leaving Barcelona at the end of his contract. The club announced the move on Monday.
Formed in Warsaw and forged at Dortmund, the 37-year-old is among the most prolific forwards of his generation. He spent eight seasons leading the line for Bayern Munich from 2014 to 2022, then moved to Barcelona in 2022.
He is the third-highest scorer in Champions League history with 109 goals and has amassed more than 700 goals for club and country. He has 167 caps and 89 goals for Poland.
He topped the scoring charts eight times in Germany and Spain. With Bayern he won the Champions League in 2020, eight Bundesliga titles and the Club World Cup in 2020, scoring 344 goals in 374 games.
At Barcelona he struck 119 in 191 appearances, collecting three Liga titles in 2023, 2025 and 2026 plus the Copa del Rey in 2025.
He missed the World Cup after Poland lost to Sweden in the play-offs. He joins a league already featuring Lionel Messi at Inter Miami and Hugo Lloris at Los Angeles FC, and will be reunited with Antoine Griezmann, who will play for Orlando, Florida.
Chicago have not advanced beyond the first round of the MLS play-offs since 2010. They are third in the Eastern Conference and the season is paused for the World Cup.
