Leeds United are weighing a January addition to Daniel Farke’s attack, with Joshua Zirkzee viewed as the creative forward they lack, and Robert Lewandowski an admirer.

Italian reports say Leeds and West Ham have made enquiries for the Manchester United striker, and Roma are expected to get him.

A month or so ago supporters wanted a new striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin on one goal and Lukas Nmecha rotated. Recent upturns have eased that urgency, but Farke still wants a spark, Fulham’s Harry Wilson was pursued in August.

Zirkzee can drop in to link play and operate as a no.10 alongside Calvert-Lewin. Signed from Bologna for £36.5m, his United move has not clicked despite big billing under Thiago Motta in Serie A.

In 2024, Lewandowski praised Zirkzee’s back-to-goal work, quick link play and finishing, noting his size and strength help team-mates find space.

Whether Leeds need another physical front man is arguable, yet a creative partner for Calvert-Lewin or Nmecha might make more sense. If Leeds could tempt Zirkzee with Premier League minutes and the World Cup six months away, it might suit all parties.
