Against Flamengo, he netted the second goal of his career, sparking Vasco's fightback after falling behind. Hugo Moura scored in the closing minutes to complete the 2-2.

His first career goal came against Fluminense in the Carioca semi, a 1-1 draw that saw Vasco eliminated. The first leg had finished 1-0 to Zubeldía's side, who advanced on aggregate. He also took the penalty that eliminated Botafogo in the Copa do Brasil.

On Sunday he partnered Carlos Cuesta for the 24th time as starters, the pair have conceded 28 goals. Both were key to the point won, with Cuesta setting up Moura.

Cuesta has taken the spot from Saldivia, who started much of Vasco's season. The Uruguayan was a signing requested by Fernando Diniz and later had a run under Renato Gaúcho.

Renan is on loan from Zenit of Russia until mid-year, with a possible extension until the end of 2026, something the board view positively to help manage cash flow. A permanent deal would cost eight million euros, R$ 48.6 million, payable by the end of the current loan or by November if the loan is extended.

Next up is Audax Italiano in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday at 19:00 at the Estádio Bicentenario Municipal de La Florida.
