Roberto De Zerbi confirms Nayef Aguerd to return to Marseille squad | OneFootball

Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Moroccan centre-back Nayef Aguerd is set to return to Marseille’s sqaud to face Toulouse in Ligue 1 this weekend. After a period of a week out with chronic pain caused by a pulgalgia, the former West Ham defender missed out on Marseille’s 5-1 win over Nice on Friday, as well as this week’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United in the the Champions League.

“Aguerd should be back in the squad, and that is all,” said De Zerbi at a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “I told my medical staff to keep an eye on the players that are currently playing a lot of games: Greenwood, Paixao, Aubameyang, Højbjerg, and of course Balerdi who has only come back to play two games after several weeks out of action.”The Moroccan’s game time has been heavily managed lately, with an AFCON on home soil at the horizon. He won’t be expected to be over-utilised in the coming months, but could be called upon to start if there are any injury issues with captain Balerdi.
