Roberto De Zerbi hopes for Nayef Aguerd boost as Emerson ruled out for Lens | OneFootball

Emerson will miss Marseille’s meeting with leaders Lens, and Roberto De Zerbi is hoping to have Nayef Aguerd plus new arrivals Quinten Timber and Ethan Nwaneri available.

The game at the Vélodrome is on Saturday at 21:05, only three days after the 0-3 Champions League defeat to Liverpool. According to L'Équipe, the squad are scheduled to train on Friday afternoon.

Emerson suffered a left thigh injury in training on Tuesday. With the upcoming suspension of Benjamin Pavard in Bruges on Wednesday, De Zerbi would like Aguerd back quickly after Morocco’s 0-1 extra-time loss to Senegal in Sunday’s final.

On Wednesday evening, the manager had not yet spoken to Aguerd and left his involvement on Saturday in doubt.

De Zerbi also hopes that Timber, signed from Feyenoord, and Nwaneri, the English winger or playmaker loaned by Arsenal, can offer fresh solutions.
