Mason Greenwood has faced a downturn in form over the last two months. Despite being Marseille’s top-scorer with 15 goals in 25 matches this season in Ligue 1, the Englishman found himself on the bench alongside Luis Henrique during Olympique de Marseille’s loss against Racing Club de Lens last weekend (0-1). This was following comments from Roberto De Zerbi, who warned that he wasn’t pleased with his physical and mental condition not being at 100% in the build-up to face Lens last weekend. “I expect more from him. He has to do more, because what he is currently showing is not enough,” said De Zerbi in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “If he wants to achieve his ambition, he has to be more consistent, sacrifice more and be more determined.”
During yesterday’s training session at the Stade Vélodrome, attended by Get French Football News, Greenwood was training with the players considered as Marseille’s substitutes during exercises working on OM’s shape. This was confirmed by L’Équipe, who reported that Greenwood was working with Marseille’s youth players in shooting exercises whilst the usual starting players trained on the other side of the pitch. For Sunday, it’s expected to be a toss-up between Greenwood and Bilal Nadir to start against Paris Saint-Germain. Luis Henrique, on the other hand, was part of the group of starting players during training.GFFN | George Boxall – reporting from Marseille.
