Robin van Persie's spell as Feyenoord manager has come to an end after the Dutch club confirmed his dismissal on Sunday.

The 42-year-old, who was under contract until 2027, leaves just weeks after the arrival of new general manager Robert Eenhoorn and technical director Devy Rigaux, with the club's new leadership reportedly keen to move in a different direction.

Van Persie guided Feyenoord to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie this season, securing qualification for next season's Champions League. However, they finished 19 points behind champions PSV Eindhoven and ended the campaign without silverware.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker returned to his boyhood club as manager in February 2025 after a brief spell in charge of Heerenveen. Across his time at Feyenoord, he oversaw 58 matches, recording 30 wins, nine draws and 19 defeats.

Despite achieving the club's key objective of Champions League qualification, Van Persie has now paid the price for an ultimately underwhelming campaign.
